During my car search, I gathered here the Porsche Boxster 986 specs including Boxster 986 performance, different engines, technical specifications, fuel consumption, emissions, dimensions, tire, and rim sizes. From my other posts, Porsche Boxster 986 History includes different model versions and Porsche Boxster 986 Colors explains all 37 colors in which the 986 is available. So here are the Boxster specifications table by table. I added the table of contents in the beginning so you can access each table directly.

Porsche Boxster 986 performance evolved naturally over time. Acceleration at 0-100 km/h is up to two seconds faster in the last version than in the first Tiptronic. Porsche Boxster 986 specs performance table not only includes 0–100 km/h & 0–60 mph acceleration but also top speed and maximum speed at different gears. The speed of the highest gear is naturally theoretical. I also calculated the weight-to-power ratio, i.e. the power-to-weight ratio, whatever each calls it… ?

Porsche Boxster 986 engine and, of course, the power of Boxster’s engine evolved several times during the 986-generation. There are six actual versions. However, Porsche Boxster 986 specs for the basics of the engine, including the compression ratio, remained the same throughout the manufacture. The power of the engine increased from the bit over 200 hp (150 kW) in the first version to nearly 270 hp (196 kW) in the last version.

Throughout the production of the Boxster 986, the convertible has been available as both a manual and a Tiptronic S automatic. The manual has both 5-speed and S’s 6-speed versions. The Porsche Boxster 986 specs table also shows that the brake discs are naturally larger in the bigger engine model than in the base model.

Porsche Boxster 986 fuel consumption has decreased in newer versions. Similarly, Boxster 986 emissions have decreased over time and, as usual, Tiptronic has higher emissions. The consumption of the manual 3.2-liter engine is about one liter more (2 mpg less) than the consumption of a 2.7-liter engine. I also calculated the driving ranges in the Porsche Boxster 986 specs consumption table.

Porsche Boxster 986 dimensions: the length, width and height show very well how similar the 986 body remained. Facelift models are a bit longer and the third radiator in the S 3.2 adds a little drag coefficient. The Porsche 986 550 Spyder 50th Anniversary Edition’s low-level is due to the sports chassis M030, which was available as an option for others. Boxster 986 tire sizes naturally affect tracks and the Porsche Boxster 986 specs table has quite a few measurements for tracks. It seems to happen to the car the same way as to us humans. We gain more weight as we age…

Boxster 986 rims are available in 16–18-inch and the Boxster tire size naturally widens as the rims increase. The narrowest tires are 205s (rims 6×16) and the widest tire size is as high as 265, with rims of 9×18 or 10×18. The last Porsche Boxster 986 specs table also shows Boxster tire pressures.
Porsche AG recommends that the car only has the same type of tires from the same manufacturer. Boxster 986 tires should be equipped with an N-code meaning they are approved and tested by Porsche. Porsche Boxster 986 approved tires are, at least, the following ones:
- Bridgestone Potenza S-02
- Continental ContiSportContact
- Michelin Pilot Exalto 2
- Michelin Pilot Sport 2
- Pirelli P Zero Rosso
- Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R
- Pirelli Winter Sottozero

Thanks David for your great idea ?! I don’t have the data here, but let’s see if I can find it somewhere so I can add it to 986porsche.com.
great work, if you wanted to get anal, the part numbers for the wheels and or offsets would be great.
I am sorry if this data is here and I missed it.
Thanks Alan for your comment ?. I haven’t personally gone through that part of the car. However, you may find the answer in the factory parts catalog: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gUVtQYvav64U4tp_d9kATIHx0QWRfUAw/view. Lots of pages to go through, but maybe you’ll find the right image. You’ve probably also read this great thread at 986forum.com. I hope you’ve already found a solution and get your Boxster back on the road ?.
Hey thank you for taking the time to post this blog. I just found it and was hoping for answers.
I’m looking for info on the driver side, convertible top gearbox micro switch and its electrical connector (plug that is hard wired into car). I removed the gearbox and unplugged the wire myself. Now 6 weeks later I cannot find the hard wired electrical plug. Do you have any info that may help me? Either way I look forward to reading thru the rest of this blog.
